Shift your shop with minimum closing time
For a shopkeeper, every day of closure is a day of lost sales and, even worse, a day on which regular customers may go to another shop. When a shop, a showroom or a godown has to be shifted because of a new location, a higher rent or an expansion, the aim is therefore to empty the old place and make the new one ready for business as quickly as possible. We plan shop and godown shifting around this aim, and we often work early in the morning, late at night or on a weekly closing day, so that your shop is closed for the shortest possible time.
What we move
A shop contains many different things, and each of them needs a different way of handling. We bring the right material and the right team for each, and we make sure that nothing is mixed up on the way.
- Stock, cartons and loose goods, packed section by section
- Racks, shelves, counters, display units and glass showcases
- Billing counters, computers, printers, CCTV systems and other electronics
- Shop furniture, mannequins, signboards and decorative items
- Godown stock, pallets, storage racks and heavy bags or drums
How we plan the shift
The key to a quick and error-free shop shift is organisation. Before the move, our team looks at your shop, or at photographs and a list of its contents, and understands how the stock is arranged, so that it can be packed and placed in the same order at the new place.
- Survey. We note the size of the shop or godown, the number of racks and the quantity of stock, and the access at both addresses.
- Section-wise packing. Stock is packed section by section and labelled with the section or the rack number, so that it can be arranged again in the same order.
- Dismantling. Racks and shelves are dismantled carefully, and the fittings are kept in labelled bags attached to the same rack.
- Loading and transport. Goods are loaded in a planned order and moved by a vehicle suited to the quantity.
- Setup. At the new place the racks are refitted first, and the stock is then placed on them according to the labels.
For shops with fragile or valuable goods
Glass items, electronics, ceramics, mobile phones, jewellery boxes and similar goods need special attention. They are wrapped individually and packed in strong cartons with extra cushioning, and the cartons are marked as fragile. We recommend that you keep very high-value items under your own watch and take them in your own vehicle, and that you keep the invoice and the stock list ready so that the stock can be checked after the move.
For godowns
A godown shift is a heavy job, and we need some information to plan it properly: the type of goods, the total weight, the type of packing, whether pallets and forklifts are used and the availability of a loading dock. We can provide labour and trucks in the numbers required, and we can work in shifts if the quantity is very large. If goods must wait between the two places, our warehousing service can hold them safely for a few days.
Keeping your business running
To reduce your loss, we suggest that you finish the setup of the new shop in stages, starting with the counter, the billing system and the fast-moving items so that you can start selling even while the rest of the stock is being arranged. Tell your regular customers about the new address in advance, and update your address with suppliers and online listings. We will adjust our plan to your needs if you tell us which section you want to open first.
