Shifting a home is one of the most stressful events in a family's life, because it means packing hundreds of items, taking furniture apart, carrying heavy things down the stairs, driving them safely to another place and then setting everything up again, all while managing work, school and daily life. Our home shifting service is designed to take this entire burden off your shoulders. One team handles the packing, the loading, the transport, the unloading and the refitting, so that you do not need to manage several different people, and you always know whom to call if you have a question. We shift flats, row houses and bungalows, within Pune and from Pune to other cities across India.
What is included in home shifting
Every move is different, but a complete home shifting service from us normally includes the following steps. You may choose all of them or only a part, and we will adjust the quote accordingly, since the decision about the service is always yours.
- Planning the move and making a list of the items, the rooms and the special requirements
- Packing of kitchen items, clothes, books, electronics, decor and other household goods with the correct material
- Wrapping of furniture, and dismantling of beds, wardrobes, tables and other items where needed
- Loading in the right order, so that heavy items stay at the bottom and fragile items remain protected
- Transport by a suitable truck, with the goods tied and secured
- Unloading, placing the items in the rooms you tell us, and refitting the furniture
- Unpacking help and removal of empty cartons, if you ask for it
How a home move runs
- Enquiry and callback. You send your details through the quote form or call us, and we understand the size of your home, the floors and the date you prefer.
- Quote and date. We give you a clear quote, explain what is included and agree the date and time slot, keeping your society rules in mind.
- Packing. The packing team arrives, packs room by room, and labels every box with the name of the room and a number.
- Loading. The goods are carried carefully to the truck, loaded in a planned order and checked against the list.
- Transport. The truck moves to your new home, and we remain in touch with you about the progress.
- Unloading and setup. The team unloads the goods, places them in the rooms you point out, and refits the beds, wardrobes and other furniture.
Society rules, lifts and parking
Most housing societies in Pune and in other big cities need prior permission for shifting, a booked lift or a fixed time slot, and some also ask for a deposit or a gate pass for the truck and the workers. If these things are not arranged in advance, the truck may be stopped at the gate, the workers may have to wait for hours, and the cost of the move can increase. Please check with your society office at both the old and the new address, tell us the timing allowed, and the parking space available for the truck, so that we can plan the move properly and avoid delays.
Keep these things with you
Certain things should never go in the truck. Keep cash, jewellery, important documents, passports, medicines, laptops, chargers and your children's school items with you, and also keep a small bag of daily-use items such as clothes, toiletries, a few utensils and bedding for the first day and night in the new home, since it may take some time to unpack everything.
Making the move cheaper and easier
Moving fewer things always costs less and takes less effort, so before the packing starts, decide what you really need. Sell or give away old furniture, clothes and appliances that you do not use, and throw away broken items. Defrost and drain the fridge and the washing machine a day before the move, empty the water from the geyser, disconnect the television and the computers, and take photographs of the expensive items. A small amount of planning before the move saves a lot of money and trouble on the day.
