Handling that protects your goods and your property
Loading and unloading is the heaviest and riskiest part of any move. It is the stage at which furniture gets scratched, appliances get dropped, door frames get hit and lift walls get damaged, and it is also the stage at which workers are most likely to injure themselves if they do not know the correct methods. Our trained labour team handles heavy and awkward items with the right technique and the right equipment, uses safe methods on stairs and in small lifts, and loads the truck in a way that keeps the goods stable throughout the journey.
Where this service helps
You do not always need a complete shifting service. Sometimes the truck is available but the labour is not, and sometimes the goods have arrived but nobody is there to carry them to the upper floors. In all such situations you can book our loading and unloading team by itself.
- You have your own vehicle or have hired a truck, but need trained people for the heavy work
- Goods have arrived by truck from another city, and you need them unloaded and placed inside the house or shop
- You have heavy items such as a fridge, washing machine, almirah, safe, piano or machine that cannot be handled by ordinary helpers
- Your home or shop is on an upper floor and the lift is small, not working or not available at all
How we load a truck
Loading a truck is a skill, and the way it is done determines whether your goods reach their destination in perfect condition. Our loaders follow a fixed method, which they have learnt from years of experience, and they never rush the work or throw the goods.
- Heavy items such as wardrobes, fridges and machines go at the bottom and against the front wall of the truck, to keep the weight balanced
- Furniture is wrapped and placed so that surfaces do not touch or rub against each other
- Boxes are stacked in even layers with fragile cartons placed on top and never underneath heavy goods
- Goods are tied with ropes or straps and wedged firmly so that they cannot slide or fall on turns, bumps and sudden braking
Heavy and special items
Some items need more than strong people. Safes, large machines, pianos, glass tables, gym equipment and big refrigerators need a particular method of lifting, special trolleys or ramps, and sometimes a crane or forklift at one of the ends. Tell us about such items early, along with their approximate weight and size, the floor on which they are placed and the path to the exit, and we will plan the right team and equipment before the day of the move.
Protection for the building
Many societies charge for damage to lifts, staircases and walls, and some insist that the lift be covered before it is used for shifting. Our team takes care of lift walls, doors, floors and staircases, uses protective sheets where needed, and carries goods in a way that avoids hitting corners. If your society needs special protection in the lift, please mention it when you book.
Safe handling of your belongings
Every worker we send is instructed to treat your home with the same respect as his own. They are asked not to drag furniture on floors, not to carry more than they can handle safely, not to stack heavy items on fragile ones and to ask the supervisor if they are unsure about anything. A supervisor is present on larger jobs, so there is always someone you can speak to if you want a change or have a concern.
