What is a part truck load?
In a part truck load, also called PTL or shared load, your goods travel in the same truck along with goods of other customers who are sending their consignments in the same direction. Each customer's goods are packed, labelled and kept in a separate section of the vehicle, and each customer pays only for the space that his or her goods occupy. It is an economical and sensible option for anyone whose volume of goods is too small to justify booking a whole truck, and it allows ordinary families and small businesses to use the same national transport network that large companies use.

Who should choose part load?
Part load is built for people with smaller consignments and for those who value saving money more than getting an exact delivery date. Many of our part-load customers are people who are moving for the first time to a new city for a job or studies, and who do not have very much furniture, and many others are small traders who send goods to the same city every month and want to control their transport expenses carefully.

How it works
- You describe your goods. Tell us what you want to send, how many boxes and which large items, and the pick-up and delivery locations.
- We check the space and the truck. Our team calculates the space your goods will need and tells you which truck going to your destination is available and what the cost will be.
- Packing and labelling. Your goods are packed with proper material and every item is labelled with your name, phone number and destination so that it can be identified at every stage.
- Loading in your section. The goods are loaded in a separate section of the truck, away from the goods of other customers, and tied firmly.
- Delivery in route order. The truck follows its route and delivers each customer's goods at the destination in a planned order, and you are informed before your delivery.
What to expect from a shared truck
The main difference between a full load and a part load is that your delivery date depends partly on the other goods on the same truck. If the truck needs to wait to be filled or has to deliver in more than one place, the delivery can take a little longer than a dedicated truck. We tell you this clearly before you book, so you can decide whether a part load suits your needs, and we always try to give you the most realistic expectation instead of an unrealistic promise.
- Your goods are packed firmly and labelled with your name and phone number, so they are never mixed with another customer's goods.
- Very large or heavy single items such as a big wardrobe, a safe or a machine may need a different arrangement, so mention them at the start.
- Because the truck is shared, loose and unpacked items are not accepted, and everything must be packed in cartons or properly wrapped.
Packing tips for part load
Strong packing is even more important in a part load, because your boxes will be handled together with other goods. Use good quality cartons and fill the empty spaces with soft items such as clothes and towels so that nothing shakes inside. Keep the weight of each box reasonable so that it can be carried safely by one person, label every box with the room name and keep a list of the contents of each box. Keep your valuables, jewellery, cash, important documents, laptops and medicines with you instead of sending them in the truck, and keep a small bag of daily-use items for the first day in the new place.
Part load or full truck?
If your goods are close to filling a truck, or if you need a fixed delivery date and want your goods to travel alone, a full truck load may be the better option, and the difference in cost may be smaller than you expect. A part load can also be combined with packing and unpacking, bike transport and warehousing, so that you deal with only one company for the whole job.
