The date and the time of your move affect the cost, the availability of vehicles and teams, and how smoothly everything goes. Here are some points that are useful for Pune.
Avoid the month-end rush if you can
Most rent agreements start and end around the first and the last days of a month, so these days, and the weekends around them, are the busiest for movers. Vehicles and good teams get booked quickly. If your date is flexible, choose a weekday in the middle of the month.
Weekdays vs weekends
Weekdays are quieter, and society offices and lifts are easier to book. However, if you are working, a weekend may be the only practical day. In that case, book at least a week early.
Start early in the day
Early morning is the best time to start. Roads are less crowded in Pune, particularly in busy areas such as Hinjewadi, Wakad, Baner and Kharadi, and you have the whole day to finish unloading and setting up in daylight.
Think about the weather
- Monsoon: heavy rain can damage cartons and furniture. Ask your mover about waterproof covers, and keep a plan for rain.
- Summer: heat is tiring for workers and for you, so start early and keep water available.
- Winter: the most comfortable season for moving in Pune, but also popular, so book early.
Keep festival periods in mind
Around big festivals and holidays, demand for vehicles and labour is high, and some workers may be away. Book earlier than usual.
Check the society rules
Many societies allow shifting only between certain hours, and sometimes not on Sundays. Check the rules of both societies before you fix the date.
Give yourself a buffer
